Adam Stigant commenced legal practice in Chatham in the 1890s. Members of
his family were associated with the Practice over many years until 1984, when
his great-grandson Brien, then a senior partner, retired from the firm. Kenneth
Redfern commenced practice in Gillingham in 1932, practising as Kenneth Redfern
& Co. He was joined later in the partnership by his son Anthony, who remained
with the firm for many years before retiring as senior partner in 1994. In
1976 Stigant Son & Taylor, as it was then known, and Kenneth Redfern &
Co, were amalgamated to form the current Practice now known as Redfern Stigant.
